A Georgian silver pap boat. Maker: Stephen Adams, London 1794. A pap boat is a small receptacle for feedback by pap to infants and invalids. The term “pap” derived from the Scandinavian for the sound made when a baby opens their mouth for nourishment. Pap usually consisted of bread, flour and water. A more nourishing mixture “panada” had added butter, milk or broth.
